How Solar Works
There are 2 main types of Solar
Energy products- PV (photo-voltaic) or Evacuated Tube Solar systems.
PV systems use semiconductor-based technology to convert light energy directly
into an electric current that can either be used immediately, or stored in a
battery, for later use. They can provide a clean, renewable energy source which
can supplement & thus minimize the use of mains electricity supply.
Evacuated tubes are the preferred choice for Solar Hot Water heating. They
absorb solar energy converting it into heat for use in water heating. Because
the collector consists of a series of tubes, the sun's rays are perpendicular to
the tubes for most of the day, allowing the system to operate at high efficiency
for much longer than flat-plate PV units. They also eliminate weight problems
caused by ‘older’ flat plate systems.
